Project Summary
For my March Madness project I wanted to create a cookbook of Egyptian cuisines that I eat almost everyday and some that I have never even tried. I wanted to pursue this project from the question how can I leave a permanent legacy of my Egyptian culture to future generations of Egyptian Americans? I became interested in this topic because I have always loved cooking and observing my mom as she made Egyptian dishes for my whole family. They were all always so delicious and I wanted to document the recipes, so I decided to make a cookbook. I have some prior experience with food. I have made dishes from different cultures because of how much I enjoyed cooking and my mom has taught me some of the Egyptian dishes as well. I did discover my interest in this project along the way because in the beginning, I wanted to make a cookbook of Egyptian dishes, but then I decided I wanted to make a tour guide of Egypt. I did a lot of research on that topic, but in the middle of the process, I changed my mind and chose to go back to doing the cookbook. I do not regret the decision because even though I decided on it a little late, I am proud of my finished product and felt more passionate about it. My end product was a digital cookbook I made on Pages where I put many family recipes and new recipes I learned about.
