Finally Making Music

Project Summary

I have played music for a long time now; about three years. My mom, dad, and stepdad are all passionate about music and I grew up surrounded by it. This led me to learn to play ukulele, then bass, then guitar. My family listens to a lot of rock music, so I’ve known my influences since day one. When the opportunity came to create my own song, I knew what I wanted it to sound like. Punk rock is my favorite genre, and my voice and playing style don’t really lend themselves to anything else, so I made a punk song. I originally was writing about having ADHD, but that theme became less up front as I continued to write. My goals were altered in this way, but if I had ideas that weren’t related to the ADHD thing,of course I had to write them down. If you’re making a song out of obligation rather than creativity, you’re not doing it right. I plan to continue to write music, and even in the short term I have some covers I would love to do. Once I learned how to use the equipment and software, making music became the most fun and rewarding hobby I’ve ever taken part in.
