Project Summary
When I started thinking about my March Madness project I began reflecting on my interests. But I knew I wanted my project to be more than just about my experiences and interests but instead focus on my parents’ experience in the U.S. This is how I figured out I wanted to make the first episodes of my podcast series where my driving question is “what are the experiences of my parents living in America as immigrants?” Although I have no previous experience in this kind of recording, writing, and editing I have recently watched a documentary focusing on different immigration stories which inspired me to document the story of my parents. When I first started off with my podcast concept I planned on doing three interviews. Although I recorded those three interviews, I decided to solely focus on the experience of my parents. This is because I felt this project would be something I could continue doing so long I go into depth on the full experience of the people I interview. One of my initial struggles came from figuring out the way in which I would want to present my final project. However, after meeting with Mr. Embry we decided I should create a separate trailer where I would be able to share the best parts of the interview with the audience. I thought this would be an interesting concept where I will also be able to include a photo collage of my parents during the time they talk back on.
