The Beginner’s Guide to OCD

Project Summary

Hi, I’m Nina Berkman, a 16-year-old high school student who lives in New York City. I have battled OCD since I was 7 years old, and I am happy to say my OCD is finally under control. Achieving this took a lot of time and effort – it was not an easy journey. Over the years, I have tried many different forms of treatment including exposure therapy, medication, outpatient group therapy, and conventional one-on-one therapy. Eventually, we finally figured out which combination of these methods worked best for me. Throughout the process, I was able to learn a lot about mental health and the abysmal lack of awareness around OCD, I was also overwhelmed by the amount of information and thought a curated list of resources for people my age would have been extremely helpful. Being fortunate enough to have the resources and support network to combat OCD, I felt personally inspired to pay it forward and create one such site. I started this website to share what I learned during my journey, including personal insights and links to comprehensive resources all accessible with just the click of your mouse.
